Every once in a while I’ll post something written by another person. It’s usually because they are passion driven about something that spreads light in their home, their community, or the world. Today I want to share something written by my friend and mentor Heather Baker – today she stands for Choices.

Heather is a loving wife and mother of three boys! She is a follower of Jesus and works on a daily basis to spread the word of Christ in her community. She started the honor project – which can be found on facebook as well. Heather also loves to share recipes and make scrapbooks!

Heather Baker: “I Stand for Choices”

I want women to know that they have choices when they are faced with unplanned pregnancies. I want them to know they are valued, accepted and worthy, just as they are!

When I was a little girl, my mom was one of the first telephone operator counselors for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She would receive calls in our home and talk with young women who found themselves in life changing circumstances. The work of the center impacted me as a child and I wanted to find a way to serve this ministry.

Now, nearly thirty years later, I am serving as a client advocate at what is now called Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center. What a joy it is to walk into the office each Wednesday and serve the staff and clients there. It is an honor and a privilege to meet with the beautiful women who come through our doors. We offer listening ears, compassionate hearts and a host of other tangible resources.
